You can only bet on something concrete, not on something like the degree of > "domination" he displays while winning, which is left to personal > interpretation. Try that with you local bookie sometime. "My horse *nearly* > won and looked stronger towards the end - that's nearly a win, pay up, or > not?". Pab if you think I wrote anything that appeared to say Mladin would not >> win the title go back and reread it, ok? I think I said "things might be a >> bit different" than last years cake walk.>
Sure it'll be somewhat different. Again, one can't bet on subtleties like > that. That's all.>
I tried to make a bet simply on Mladin winning again, period, because I > think that it's a pretty foregone conclusion, and that happens to be a sign > of a dominating champion indeed. Pab, have you ever gone to a horse track? They have odds on individual races, don't they? Now let's look at this deal, you seem to think that Mladin is by far the cream of AMA racing, you even went as far as to say he could win the title again on a hog in a thong and while I didn't exactly understand that terminology I took it to mean you thought he was a sure thing to run the field again like last year. On top of that pretty bold statement you asked me if I wanted to bet, when I asked exactly what were your terms, you said just me inquiring meant that I was lacking the will to proceed. Whether Mat just repeats and, or how he (may)repeats are two completely different deals, wouldn't you agree? I guess you mistook my desire to clarify your invitation as not wanting to wager, nothing could be further afield! So lets start again, ok? Which is it, do you feel he will repeat as he did last year,(approx. same, or better percentage of wins) or do you feel he will just prevail (again) for the "umpteenth" time? If it's the former I would be willing to take a couple yards on that heads up,(even)if it's the latter you will need to qualify (odds) that he will just repeat, after all, he's won 6 or 7 titles already! How "superior" do you think he is, or rather, how lacking do you believe the rest of the AMA SB paddock is? You figure out how, or if you wish to proceed and let me know...

Yeah, and they bet on finishes and placing. Clear stuff.

A smart racer -and Mladin is one- will not go out race for the win every time, he'll race with the title in mind. With someone like Mladin, whether he finishes ahead by 10 points or 200 points is just a reflection of many things that ultimately may or may not show how much of an advantage (skills, team, bike ..) he may have over the rest of the field, and it's immaterial.
From the get go of this bet thread, I have clearly stated the bet's on Mladin winning a title. You are the one trying to turn it into someone else.
... How "superior" do you think he is, or rather, how lacking do you > believe the rest of the AMA SB paddock is?
You are trying to turn this into something it's not. If Mladin's dominance represents an insult to the rest of the field, then Mladin insulted the field loud and clear in '05, and whatever I say on the matter adds little to the issue. Or to the $200 bet.
