You need 8 teams for single-elim (or 16, but if you wanted that, you'd
take the best 3 from each pool and one more :-). Hence you need to
eliminate 2 teams. Arguably you wouldn't want to eliminate any of the
five #1s, so one of the five #2s gets a bye (:=bye2), and the other play
one game against another #2. Loser quits, winner (:=W1_ELIM and W2_Elim)
goes on to playoff.

A1-W1_ELIM
B1-W2_ELIM
C1-bye2
D1-E1

A thorough TD would make sure that teams from the same original pools
don't play each other again before the finals, which is pretty straight
forward once the remaining #2s are decided.

Greetings
Robert

Try this site:

http://www.crowsdarts.com/brackets/tourn.html

Plenty of brackets to choose from there.

Basically you are doing a 10 team bracket. In reality it is a 16 team bracket,
because all brackets are powers of 2. With a 10 team bracket you are just
giving byes to 6 teams in the first round. The other four teams play in the
first round.

That is correct, up to a point, I believe.

Since it is important under USAV rules that teams from the same pool do
not play each other until the finals you must take the 4 worst teams,
seed them 1v4, 2v3 play those matches and then plug the appropriate
teams into the 8 team bracket after you have seeded 1-6, then placing
the teams so that they do not play the team from their pool until the
final match, even if that means moving the 5th and 6th seeds to other
matches to accomodate. If Teams from the same pool must be on opposite
sides of the bracket until the finals it can make for some very funky
rearangement of the seeds.

I don't think it is a requirement to do that. It may be a
recommendation but I didn't really notice it. It for sure isn't part of
the "rules", since the rules only cover the aspects of a single match
and do not talk about tournaments.

In the guidelines for running tournaments they may talk about it.

But I have been to many tournaments where they have not followed this
system, which is unfortunate because it makes sense.
