I am trying to find the times from the last 5 Junior worlds mens 2X, have 2004 & 03 but get dead pages on the rest, Found 97 Hazelwinkel We have a crew here in NZ that we think (regional association) have been hard done by in not getting selected for this years regatta, they won our National School Champs in a time of 6.37 & 2nd at National Club U 21 with time of 6.39 we are wanting to put a case up to the National Body who are only sending a mens eight & womens four. Cost is not an issue as rowers have to self fund their trip. Interesting that they trialed for the eight, were 4th & 6th in erg tests & 2nd bow side & 4th stroke side after pairs seat racing matrix was completed. They also won the pairs & were 1st & 2nd in singles at School champs.
Appreciate a link that is still alive to the results or if someone has them stored away & can email them to me

I think the ones on that website only go back to 2002. I'll e-mail the 2002/ 2000/ 1999/ 1998 ones. I can't find the 2001 ones in electronic form at the moment, but each year's results are in the FISA directory; now World Rowing Guide. -- David Biddulph Rowing web pages at http://www.biddulph.org.uk/ and http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/david_biddulph/
You may like to bear in mind that 1999 Junior Worlds in Plovdiv included some world-best times, junior or senior, so perhaps shouldnt be used for comparison.
Just a thought Kit

The times in Plovdiv were way out of wack here are the fastest times from all the junior worlds since 1990 in the mens double Year Location Time 2004 Banyoles 6.30 2003 Schinias 6.36 2002 Trakai 6.39 2001 Duisburg 6.30 2000 Zagreb 6.19 1999 Povdiv 6.08 1998 Ottensheim 6.38 1997 Hazelwinkel 6.47 1996 Glasgow 6.38 1995 Poznan 6.35 1994 Munich 6.39 1993 Aarungen 6.33 1992 Montreal 6.37 1991 Banyoles 6.35 1990 Aiguebelette 6.20
One of the above times was from the winner of the C final, Trakai I think, the A finals struck a solid head wind the next day. Kevin

Nice list! I think you have a pretty strong case as your crew went sub 6:40 more then once already. What were the conditions?
I think I can be fairly proud of my personal best of 6:40.55 in a junior 2x, especially as we were/are both lightweights. We had pretty fast weather though, later in the afternoon the fastest Dutch 8+ went below 5:30.

Don't forget that these two rowers also won the U182- and the U182X. Pne of the rowers, Joseph Sullivan won three gold medal at the regatta, to go with the three he won in the previous Maadi (an outstanding achievement).
Conditions for both were not a factor - flat water, no wind and no current.
Does anyone know or can point to a site which lists the conditions for the various worlds that have been listed.? I know you can't really compare times, but it is an interesting exercise.
For those that are interested, Hamilton Boys won the Eights in a time of 5.53 in similar conditions to the U182X. This is a very fast time for a NZ U18 crew and also makes an interesting comparision with the other WC times.
Only four of this crew were selected for the Junior Worlds Eight, and the performance of this crew will be watched with great interest.
