Vesta Veterans Head 28 February 2005 15:45:48
	A quick reminder that the entries for this year's Vets Head (March 20th) close this coming weekend - entries welcome via OARA or on normal entry forms. 	I think they do it on either the rising or the falling tide depending on the time - the aim being to have the race in the morning, to allow visiting crews time to drive home on the sunday afternoon - in 2004 the tide times would have meant a Mortlake to Putney run would have been impossibly early in the morning, or very late afternoon (possibly even too late to run).

	Bang on, because a lot of the competitors will have travelled down for > the Eight's Head the day before - and we normally attract a decent > foreign contingent - we always try for the race to be late morning so > that those coming from further afield will be able to travel home > without it being too ludicrously late on their return. oh - and for years I thought it was just because the Vesta bar didn't open for post-race, pre-results beer until 12noon!
