RaG 16 April 2005 10:17:35
I know someone out there wears glasses and plays paintball. Just wondered
which masks are better for those who wear glasses??

Honestly, the best suggestion I have is to not wear glasses at all, unless
you absolutely have to. Glasses fog up so badly inside the sweaty confines
of a mask (thermal or not) that it's often simply more hassle than they are
worth. If you have ANY choice, wear contacts. If you can't wear contacts
for some reason, and you simply MUST wear your glasses, be VERY liberal with
the anti-fog on your lenses.

As far as masks to use with glasses, I understand that VForce lenses are
pretty good, but I don't wear glasses, so that's just hearsay.

PMI sells a new mask called the 20/20 with thermal lens, and a built in fan.
I'm told it fits a little tight on your face, and I don't know if there's
room for glasses, but the fan would help keep your glasses from fogging.

I use the VForce morph masks and have zero glasses problems. The more rigid
the temples are in your glasses the harder it will be to wear a mask over
them without distortion, caused by shifting the lens. For fogging you want
to be sure the mask has adequate downward and top ventilation. Especially
if you have a beard the more the mask curves in at the bottom - the more
fogging you'll have. I find with the VForce that fogging only occurs with
the glasses (not the lens) and only on VERY humid hot days.

cheers,
Firefly

I wore the Spectra with eyeglasses for years, the glasses fogged more than
the mask ever did. Finally got the Bolle eyeglass insert, that helped. But
contacts are absolutely the way to go, make all the difference in the world.

My glasses still fog under my Morphs, but they are the best I have
tried. With a good coat of anti-fog on my glasses every couple of
games, I can get through the day without any major problems.

The VForce mask seems to fog my glasses less than others, and given
some time, they will begin to clear after having fogged. The same
couldn't be said for the Proteus, my previous mask. Its fan didn't
seem to be particularly helpful, either. Both the visor of the
Proteus and the Vortex fan broke a few months after I'd had them,
and JT was no help whatsover. In a word, I was underwhelmed.

I'd like to know as well, I hate putting on and taking off my JT with my
glasses. I can't wear contacts because I have an issue with putting
things in my eye, I just can't force myself to do it lol.

I'll check out the VForce masks. I wear contacts so not a problem. One of
the kids that plays with us still wears glasses and his parents won't buy
him contacts. he has alot of problems with masks not fitting very well. So
we thought we'd find him a better mask and get it for him as a b-day
present. Thanks.
