Sorry to hear about your Spectras. A lot of people swear by VForce stuff these days; in fact, I just got a set of Morphs to replace my broken-down Proteus, but I haven't had a chance to go play with them yet. Let me tell you, though, the quick-change lens feature is heaven on earth compared to the cursing and swearing involved with the JT frames. Your thumbnails will eternally thank you.
I'd say check out the VForce stuff, and see what you think of it. If you don't like the feel or fit, pick up another JT mask. Even though they've been out for a while, there are still a lot of people out there using Flex7s and whatnot.

has anyone tried the new JT Flex 8 mask? Is it any good?

I wear flex 7.like he said, its the same design as a regular spectra frame, but with a floppy mask.your more likely to get bounced off the floppy than the hard plastic.the pro flex is basically the same thing but costs a little more. both the DYE Invision and the V-Force Profiler are nice and very low-profile.

I agree. I have a V-Force Shield and I love it. Never ever ever fogs. Easy to clean, too.
true but some lenses are very sensitive, and easily loose their antifogging "abilities" (can't remember any other word for that right now -- Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.

absolutely not true. only mask I ever used that did not fog was a v-force. I have fogged many double-paned lenses.
They have a full head sheild for the new JT Flex 8 and Exterme rage has one out too.

Usually I'm playing paintball. What do you do when you're wearing yours.... Never mind, don't answer that.
I have the most trouble with my v-force fogging at night. I am old, rather out of shape and as Jeff would say a mouth breather (allergies). I have similar problems with duel lens goggles. I've never tried one with a fan.

I had a JT Proteus with the Vortex fan for a while. My problem is that I wear glasses under my gogs, and while the goggle lens might stay fog-free, the point is moot if my glasses start to fog. The fan helped somewhat, but it had two main disadvantages: 1) it's loud, and 2) in my experience, its durability sucks.
As for 1), the noise level isn't enough that you would generally worry about other players hearing you, unless you're trying to creep up and barrel tag them on a very, very quiet field. It is loud enough that it hampers *your* hearing things quite a bit, though. Funny story: Abbie, the guy who owns the field I used to play at in the Sault, had the same setup I did (Proteus w/ Vortex.) While playing back at a tournament, a ref ran up to him, tapped him, and said something. Thinking the guy was asking if he'd taken a hit, Abbie responded "I'm clean", and continued playing. Five seconds later, the ref yells "You're gone!" and pulls him out of the game. Abbie's upset, he knows he hasn't been hit, so he storms up to the ref in the staging area after the game and asks why he pulled him. The ref says, "Your foot was just over the tape line. I told you that it was out of bounds, but you kept on playing, so I had to pull you out." Fan came out of the goggles after that.
As for 2), the Vortex comes with a 90-day warranty, and mine didn't take too much longer than that before it broke. The little plastic fan cracked and the thing died. This was after only four or five outings -- I kept it safely under my visor, so it hadn't taken any paintball hits or anything. Needless to say, I was underwhelmed.
Anyway, I'm taking my new set of Morphs to the field today. I'll post about how they worked, just so it can be recorded for posterity.

...they worked pretty well. Goggles themselves didn't show even a hint of fog. They cut down on my glasses' fogging vs. the Proteus, though not as much as I'd hoped. One thing that was very noticeable: if I stayed still and didn't continue to build up a sweat, my glasses would start to clear after a while, whereas with the Proteus, once they were fogged, they stayed that way. I'd chalk that up to the Morphs' better air circulation.
As expected, cleaning was a joy compared to the Proteus. Pop the lens out, run lens and mask under the tap, and set them aside to dry. Total elapsed time: 60 seconds. No screwing around with carefully wiping and polishing a dual-pane thermal lens. No bout of cursing, swearing, and bent fingernails as I tried to pry the lens out of the prison that is the Spectra goggle frame. Good stuff.

I have a Proto FS switch with a thermal lens and they fog horribly even with>the fan.>
I have a JT proflex that has never fogged on me. They also are the lightest>most comfortable mask I have ever used. No fan required.
I use a JT Flex and have never had it fog on me as when I have my mask on I breath though my moth most of the time. I normally do not breath through my nose when I have a mask on but I guess that is because I use to do a lot of underwater diving/swimming with a mask and the nose then is only used to equalize the pressure for your eyes. I also use a smoke fade to clear thermal lense. My boys also have no problems with fogging either. One has a JT Proteus and the other has a VForce Armor and both use Thermal lenses.

Depends on your head! You should try some goggles to see what fits you>best. I like my Dye Invision, but some of my friends (with bigger>heads) can't wear them comfortable.
Very True, I tried a whole bunch of systems but they were uncomfortable or rubbed on my neck as I have a big neck
