Shoes and fencing left-handed

Matthias Syndikus 5 April 2005 00:08:16
 Hello all,
Does anyone have first hand experience with using Adidas': Adistar Fencing
LO shoes? If so, are they good and worth the going market price of 145
Euro? Any other recommendations? I am a left-handed fencer and want to
know if there any marked difference between or competitive advantage using
shoes built purposely for left (or right-handed) fencers or not.
Thanks
Matthias

I have found that even if you get a high-end shoe, that the volume of
training that you do, and the composition of the strips you work on
that can degrade that shoe, can make that shoe worse for competition -
i.e. having a bad shoe that gives out on you during an important
competition.

I used to get high-end shoes, but now, I get lower end shoes and change
them more frequently -- I find this more cost effective and health
saving in the long run.

I have a pair of Adidas D'Artignans and they're fine. Allegedly they're
designed for metallic pistes rather than non-metallic pistes but I haven't
noticed a difference.

I'm on Earth, small blue planet just off center of a small spiral solar
system sometimes called Mutter's Spiral.

Figured you had special magnetically soled shoes since they were made
for metallic pistes.

Here on planet earth most metalic fencing strips are made of copper,
stainless steel, or aluminum. All rather NON-magnetic metals.

Anyway, those shoes have nothing on my fencing sandals with little
wings on the ankles :-P

I once fenced in a pair of suede mocassins, since I'd forgotten my fencing
shoes.

Oddly I fenced rather better than usual :P
