..or whatever organization will take the place of the UPA.
Think big, start small.
Create a working rule set that uses refs, if you could work out the shot clock logistics that'd be ideal.
Use your rule set and start a spring series. Keep everything local, East coast first until there's enough hype for the west coast to start up the same way.
Create an organization to promote your events whose mission statement whose mission statement focuses on ultimate, not SOTG. That way I don't have to waste $40 bucks on an organization whose focus is exactly what's hurting the sport.
Advancement in a series is more motivational than dollar bills(at least $10,000 divided 20 ways).
The spring is ripe for competitive ultimate. All I see this time of year on the calander are coed and hat tournaments. Competitive players don't have much to look forward to unless they can play college.
Don't expect to have the best teams at your tournament the first year. Expect(and hope) for the younger generation of ultimate players to be there. They will be more successful in this series without the big names. If the tournaments are run well, the success will bring them back for more.
Don't expect to extinguish the UPA overnight. The power of the UPA's series is in the hands of the players. The players have decided this is the series to win. It'll take many, games, tournaments, and years to change this belief.
And finally we'll be able to satisfy both parties. The SOTG people can join the UPA and play their style of ultimate and say they're different from every other sport and talk about how much better than everyone they are. Everyone else can join a second organization and just play ultimate because we love playing ultimate.
