I am using the 40mm (RH) Dayglow 1 9/16 Curly vanes, please advise what
is the optimum distance or how close should i fletch the vane's from the
end of the nock sleeve to the start of the curly vane.
I am using the cartel fletching jig.
regards

Optimum? ... I do not know, but mine are about 1 1/4" from the end
of the vane to the edge of the nock groove.

Enough to give clearance for your fingers. Less if your using a release aid

In other words, to make it simple, the length of the top joint of your
middle finger! If you are using a release, you put the vanes right at the
back end of the arrow. You then get something for nothing: more stability
with no extra drag.

Optimum is: as close to the end of the shaft as you can get, and not
get any clearance problems. Vanes are more effective the further back
along the shaft you place them.
