Weren't the WSB races good at the weekend? All three of them. Such a
shame that we don't go to Hockenheim any more and there are so few
tracks like Monza.

Yeah, it was an equalizer of sorts, although "we" only saw two of them...

Agree to all points. Monza is one of the last of the classic tracks.

I used to adore the GPs from the likes of Hockenheim, Spa - even
Silverstone, before it was neutered. Places where a GP bike could be
given its head.

At least Phillip Island is still in use.
It's a pity the Mt Panorama circuit at Bathurst, Australia in no longer
suitable for motorcycle racing - it too is a classic, ask Mike Hailwood
when you next see him. Unfortuately it is now surrounded by concrete
walls so the tin-tops will stay on the track!

I noticed something I can't recall seeing before. Does WSB use a blue
flag to signify the last lap? Is that something new or haven't I been
paying attention?

It was the standard "you're about to be lapped" flag shown to
backmarkers.

Nope, last lap is white flag as normal.
The blue flag (same in AMA as well) is waved at the
lappers to warn the the fast boys are coming.

Will Toseland snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

It's a fine old British Sporting tradition, after all.

Aye, the pendulum seems to be going the wrong way.

Maybe, but a 29 point lead with 50 on the table really ought to be
enough.

Race two yesterday was a little dull, but race one was pretty amazing.
I've never seen so many hard passing manoeuvres! I'm not a advocate
of "rubbing is racing", but those guys were riding so hard and close
at the front.

Yes, that's a BIG lead going into the last round. He can finish right
behind Biaggi in the first race and as long as Max doesn't win, it's
over. Toes can crash out of the first race and Max can win, and it still
comes down to the same thing. Now that it's Max in 2nd, overtaking Haga
at the end of race one doesn't matter quite so much. I hope that it does
go down to the last race, though.

Yeah, it was really good, one of the few WSB races I've seen this year
that really held my attention all the way. But I can't help but feel
that it was the tires that was making much of the fight, the way they
they were sliding and wobbling around. That circuit was part of the
issue and the heat as well, but it still feels like the bikes and riders
are better than the tires...
