TDF 2008-4 race report Michael Press 01:53:08

Kim Kirchen's green jersey by Columbia is a sad, sad
green. Come on, guys, there are Pantone codes for this
stuff. Stop trying to be original.

Fabian, sorry about the whipping.
At least Levi was not here to administer it.

Keith,
You're responding to someone who is nitpicking and clearly knows that
"Rans" = "RANS". Some people in these newsgroups really have nothing
better to do than to waste time and invoke the wasting of others' time by
being petty.

It is better to have Tom Sherman nitpicking the spelling of a name than
engaging in political discourse. Please note how Ed Dolan the Great has
cleaned up this newsgroup, formerly notorious for having a lot of scurrilous
liberal Bush bashing. Please also note that Ed Dolan the Great is talking
now mainly to Himself. At long last, ARBR has been perfected as a newsgroup.
It is composed of a single Great Personage contemplating only Himself. Kind
of like God before the Creation I would imagine.

Re: Trikes? Trains? Cycling routes from Milwaukee to Chicago? Kristian M Zoerhoff 17:48:53

Some day, in the future, I'd like to plan a trip from Milwaukee to
Chicago? I'd like to cycle there, but I'm unsure of cycling routes. So,
instead , I'll probably take the Amtrak.

Most of the route is served by bike paths on the right-of-way of the old
Chicago, North Shore, and Milwaukee railroad. Milwaukee locals can give
you the best route from Milwaukee to Kenosha or Racine, where you can pick
this up.

Do you think a train [Amtrak?] would carry a trike?

While many Amtrak trains do, the Hiawatha from Milwaukee to Chicago does not.

And, once I'm down in Chicago I'd like to plan some cycling-related
events. I'm pretty unfamiliar with the are, so I'd greatly appreciate
some suggestions (ie. cycling routes, bike paths, bike shops, etc.)

The lakefront path is popular, but crowded in the summer. The city of Chicago
publishes a free bike map, showing trails, god biking streets, and shops in the
city. You can request one at <http://www.chicagobikes.org/> and have it sent
to you. Kane County (west of the city, reachable by commuter train or trail),
also has a map at <http://www.co.kane.il.us/dot/com/bicycle/> that shows some
nice routes, as well as the Fox River Trail.

The city of Milwaukee has maps as well. head over to
<http://www.ci.mil.wi.us/maps4460.htm> to get one.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help me appraise this bike. It is a
2006 Trek 2.1 Pilot that has ~5000 miles on it. everything is stock
except the cranks, cassette, and chain that were replaced in December

there are a lot of heuristics involved but I want to make sure I make

Subject: The truth about mountain biking in a nutshell
The best recommended comment from the story about Kelowna's illegal
mtb courses. The truth. It happens here, too -- not just in the USA
and California, etc., like the Mayor likes to remind me. This guy,
"Joe Public", could not have stated it better:
"I was the live-in caretaker on Knox Mountain for two years. This is a
city park and not a mountain bike course and the problem lies
completely with the mentality of the mountain bikers. The city parks
department went to great lengths to allow and accomodate mountain
bikers within the park by discussing needs with mountain bikers and by
creating authorised trails for them to use.
The problem is that most mountain bikers want to do what they want and
go where they want to go. They do not like to follow trails or remain
is selected areas, they like to create trails and jumps, and they are
destroying the park in the process.
I have personally spoken to several "leaders" of local mountain bike
clubs and several owners of local mountain bike stores. Up front they
claim to be supportive of the park rules, yet when they think that no
one is watching, they lead groups of riders down pristine park fields,
creating new trails which will continue to erode for decades, or they
sneak into the park after hours to ride with headlamps.
When approached on unauthorised trails, university educated riders
claim to have not seen the signs and curiously, the next time you
catch them on the same unauthorised trails, the signs have all been
knocked down. These same "leaders" were asked to form work crews to
repair the destruction of the city parks, yet not one rider cared
enough to show up. The rampant lack of respect for Kelowna's parks by
the mountain biking community is the main reason why I did not renew
my contract within the park.
Over the course of 6 years, the mountain biking community of Kelowna
has shown no concern for the park itself, and as such and for the sake
of the park, should be banned completely. It will take 20 years to
repair the damage of their unauthorised rides.

Down by the Banks of the Ohio Edward Dolan 05:05:15
I believe Tom Sherman and I are destined to fight a duel down by the banks
of the Ohio, the only river in America that is deserving of such a trial.

My one and only concern is that this be conducted with honor. If we cannot
be gentlemen, then we should not do it at all. I will want Jim McNamara of
Chicago to be my second and Tom Sherman can have Ed Gin, also of Chicago and
his criminal vandal troll buddy, to be his second. Again, the only thing
that matters in this is that honor be preserved.

I am presently seeing my eye doctor to get my prescription eye glasses
renewed. The way they are now, I cannot see anything much beyond 5 feet. I
have a pair of dueling pistols that I inherited from my grandfather. My God,
it does not matter to me whether I kill or be killed. The honor of dueling
with an equal is all that matters to me at this point in my life.

I will expect Tom Sherman do observe all of the niceties of dueling. If I am
killed I will want Jim McNamara to say an Irish prayer over my lifeless
body.

JimmyMac - alone at last! Edward Dolan 00:42:54
Yea, JimmyMac has managed to alienate every member of these newsgroups by
his disgusting and revolting stalking behavior. Note how no one will bother
with any of his messages anymore. He has effectively banished himself from
all of respectable humanity. He has sunk lower than a snake in the grass.
His wife no doubt is going to divorce him any day now and his faithful old
hound dog is going to leave him too. Even Ed Gin, the criminal vandal troll,
will have nothing to do with him anymore.

JimmyMac made the fatal error of not modeling himself after the Great Ed
Dolan. If he had done so, he would now be beloved by these newsgroups
instead of being universally despised. Ed Dolan the Great is a shining
beacon to all and sundry. Follow in His footsteps and you too can be Great!

JimmyMac - alone at last. He has earned it - now let him enjoy it!

When there is not a dope bust, it's proof of a

of course, you're always right.
