TDF 2008-5 race report Michael Press 14:04:38
Incompetence and obstruction. Who actually wanted to chase
down the break? Columbia. Otherwise there were enough
teams and riders to slow down the chase. Shameful when
it becomes the Slow Bicycle Race. At times like these a
boss in the peloton is preferable.

'tis true? Giant doesn't appear to make a TT bike.

It seems stupid, really. You watch the coverage in the morning, then again
late the same night. What, exactly, is it you're expecting to see that you
didn't before?

A hilarious Bob Roll piece, that's what. I hope it ends up on YouTube. Lots
of embarrassing moments from Bob's time on 7-11 during the 'Tour. Seriously
funny.

That's Global War on Dope, if you were wondering.
It's clear that this Tour is much cleaner than every other Tour since the
last Tour that was cleaner than all the other Tours. As proof, since Ryan
is slow to post for some reason, simply regard the Millar Line from the
Stage 4 time trial:
1 Stefan Schumacher (Ger) Gerolsteiner 35.44 (49.534 km/h)
2 Kim Kirchen (Lux) Team
Columbia 0.18 3 David Millar
(GBr) Team Garmin-Chipotle p/b H30 "
There you go - 176 riders are proven clean by being David Millar or behind
him, Kirchen is on the same time as Millar so he doesn't count, and
Schumacher is known to be positive, but only for amphetamines (MDMA, we
expect) after post-nightclub drunk driving. The race is as pure as a glass
of mineral water - Gerolsteiner, presumably.

What's remarkable to me, for some reason, is how diverse the outcomes
were from similar starting conditions over the last 40 years.

The charts aren't perfect (are they ever?) but the animations of this
data are powerful.

I'm a little (2 years) late to this video.

Psychiatrists identify 'climate change delusion' phenomenon... St 00:54:22

Doomed to a fatal delusion over climate change
Article from: Herald Sun

Andrew Bolt

July 09, 2008 12:00am

PSYCHIATRISTS have detected the first case of "climate change delusion" -
and they haven't even yet got to Kevin Rudd and his global warming guru.

Writing in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, Joshua Wolf
and Robert Salo of our Royal Children's Hospital say this delusion was a
"previously unreported phenomenon".

"A 17-year-old man was referred to the inpatient psychiatric unit at Royal
Children's Hospital Melbourne with an eight-month history of depressed mood
. . . He also . . . had visions of apocalyptic events."

"The patient had also developed the belief that, due to climate change, his
own water consumption could lead within days to the deaths of millions of
people through exhaustion of water supplies."

But never mind the poor boy, who became too terrified even to drink. What's
scarier is that people in charge of our Government seem to suffer from this
"climate change delusion", too.

DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about Robbie Hunter? World class motor mouth. Hello,
Robbie, would you care to tell us a little about ..
Zooooom! I rewound the tape just to hear him again. Hope
he wins one of the stages.

Jonathan Vaughters. They had him oozing sincerity for an
entire segement on VS or whatever. Happily, they also put
in a shot of riders having a racing break at the side of
the road. Hope everything works out for you, Jonnie.

Team Columbia looks competent. Bob Stapleton said it
himself, "These guys are just super-motivated." Would
somebody handicap these guys in the mountains? No Italians,
or Spaniards. They do not appear ready to challenge in
the team standings.

41 Kim Kirchen (Lux)
42 Marcus Burghardt (Ger)
43 Mark Cavendish (GBr)
44 Gerald Ciolek (Ger)
45 Bernhard Eisel (Aut)
46 Adam Hansen (Aus)
47 George Hincapie (USA)
48 Thomas Lovkvist (Swe)
49 Kanstantsin Siutsou (Blr)

I wish Hinault had got a leg in front of that demonstrator
before nudging him. Would have been more entertainng to
