get the rubber (viton) and prise up the seal with a blade to fill> the bearing with grease before installation.

You should do this because these bearings are designed to turn about
1800RPM or more, something they don't do well full of grease, so they
have only a light load of lube. Their shields are designed to prevent
airflow and dust collection in applications where 1800RPM pumps air
through them, such as an electric motor. They weren't intended to be
water proof but they do a good job of retaining lubricant.
