Where do you get 105???

PatC 20 April 2005 06:33:25
I have a neighbor with a Trek 2200 with 105 components. I had borrowed it
for months before I got my sport road bike. It shifted great.

After the thread on the ultimate commuter, I got the itch to build out a
Surly LHT, as a touring/commuting bike. I want to build it with a triple,
canti's and MAYBE a mountain bike 9sp cassette and derailleur to get those
low gears in.

Long question short, 105 components seem to be a good deal, but it's hard
to find a group. All the catalogs have Ultegra for sale, but no 105. Is
105 discontinued or something? I just want to build this thing cheap, but
reliable. What's the deal?

105 prices are so close to Ultegra that most on-line catalogs don't bother
stocking both. Your local bike shop should be able to get your 105 if you
want to match the color of existing components. nashbar.com may have 105.

You may want to build it cheap, but they want to sell you something more
expensive!
