No problemo. All Shimano 8 & 9-speed cassettes are cross-compatible. I've use an 8-speed XTR cassette on a 9-speed 105 hub for several years now. Everything is was fine up to the rim exploding this weekend (see the "Catastrophic rim failure" thread).
