Litespeed Tuscany

Kingstrup 14 March 2005 00:59:49
Recently purchased a Litespeed Tuscany. Noticed that the derailer cables
are crossed under the down tube before they reach the bottom bracket. Are
they supposed to be cabled this way, and why?

Cheers

I have mine crossed that way. Its because the outercable makes a weither
round and thats why the innercable has a better flow in the outercable. A
second point is that the outercable does not dammage the frame that easy,
because of the weither round.

It's a feature.

Sometimes that enhances cable efficiency. Sometimes it
hampers. You want a smooth arc with no recurves and as
large a radius as is practical.

Generally smaller frame sizes benefit from crossed Ergo gear
cables more than larger ones.

I used to do this regularly. If the downtube is wide, the cables
enter the cable guide under the bottom bracket at a more oblique
angle. A plastic chainguide gets grooved thin and causes friction.
I reverted to not crossing the cables on fat downtube bikes.

I cannot find the word "weither" in the dictionary. What does it mean?

No need to get snarky. I just wanted for you to clarify what you wrote. I
didn't understand it as written.
