Six time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong announced his retirement from the sport today. In a surprise move, he announced that his final race would be this year's Giro de Italia, afterwhich he would assume his new role as leader of the Catholic church. Concurrent with Mr. Armstrong's press conference, a puff of white smoke was seen over Vatican City in Rome.
When asked if this wasn't a huge contradiction given his documented distaste for Christianity, Mr. Armstrong commented, "this has nothing to do with Christianity. It's Catholicism."
Mr. Armstrong will assume the name Pope Marco upon his ordaination.
