The San Francisco Board of Supervisors in SF was scheduled yesterday to decide whether to accept the Mayor's deal with the SF Grand Prix (I realize this isn't the "corporate" name of the race), that the race would receive a "discount" on police time equal to 50 cents per dollar the city analysist estimated the race returned to the city in additional sales tax revenue. For some reason, some members of the Board have problems with a 100% ROI...
I was at the meeting last night, but the discussion of the TransBay terminal ran late, then the Medicinal Cannibus crowd moved it, and the Grand Prix got pushed off the schedule. Next week, hopefully supporters of the race can flood their reps with emails, and show up in force at City Hall.... I'll see you there.

===================================== from Ryan Chamberlain: The Board of Supervisors postponed the vote yesterday to next week, which is somewhat good news as it gives them another week to hear our message. It's looking good, but there are never guarantees with this group. My organization (SFSOS) is pushing it harder with our membership, as are a few other civic groups in town. Many of you have contacted Supervisors. Those who yet wish to do so have another week. You might also try writing letters-to-the-editor via letters_at_sfexaminer_dot_com and letters_at_chronicle_dot_com. Public opinion counts.
