Antonio Cruz article on CyclingNews

Antonio Cruz is a friggin workhorse. Those cheap US Postal bastards
used to send him alone to the US stage races without support etc. He
have to mooch bottles from us which we were happy to give. Good to see
him rising a bit in the Discovery ranks.

The article is great until 5th question from the jagoff interviewer is:

CN: How is Lance? Was his morale dented after Paris-Nice?

The last two years he's been pretty valuable on their "classics" teams.
This year looks different so far though. Hope he really does get to
go to the Giro. I was disappointed to see him riding by himself the
other day.

Probably the only known example of a trickle-down effect from Lance:
interviews with teammates.

Man, I'd give my left nut to ride like Antonio Cruz. I don't know why he
doesn't ride the hilly classics in a support role. I could really see him
pulling on some of the climbs in Flanders, Amstel, Liege, etc. even if he's
only there to ride the first 100-150 kilometers and then drop out. He's got
a classics rider's build.

I'm ignorant here....what kind of rider was he here in the U.S. before his
postal days?
