Every Shop Is Different. Some will do deals on stuff in stock but not stuff that has to be ordered in, others do just the opposite, some have flexible pricing on anything at all, and some just don't discount, ever. Your Mileage May Vary.

Not unusual.

Excel also has a pretty great deal on the Time VX if you can get one in your size. I can't get one big enough for me but I've heard nothing but glowing reports on them.

Thanks everyone for your input. It looks like I will be doing business with my LBS. They finally got enough heads together and came off list by about 6.3% plus the purchase is still eligible for the yearly 10% dividend. Yes, it is an REI and they do carry Litespeed.
Profit percent on most frame is 30 to 33% of the retail price.
For Litespeed this seems to be 50%. So plenty of room to negotiate especially since parts have a 50% profit in them as well.

Considering they come out of the same factory in Chattanooga (okay, it's really Ooltewah), Tennessee, what makes you say this?

I have had had people tell me that the welds on the Merlins were way better with the both brands sitting next to each other and obviously the same...makes you wonder.
