Without looking it up, I'm guessing you mean Garner, Holding, Roberts> and Croft?>
By the way, Andrew, did the NZ Pace Quartet of Hadlee, Chatfield,> Cairns and the young Martin Crowe ever play together?

The real NZPQ of the era was Hadlee, Chatfield, Cairns and Coney. They
combined to devastating effect at Headingley in 1983. Or at least three of
them did - I expect the other was lacking commitment to the cause.

I was a little surprised to see the name "Crowe" as being part of a PQ.> Imagine my astonishment in seeing the name "Coney" mentioned in that> context.>
Or does the "P" in "PQ" not stand for "pace"?

Pies.

LOL! Respects such as batting and fielding?>
Did Kapil ever do the double?
<snip>

In an English season? No, but then neither did Imran nor Botham. It's
only been done twice since the number of Championship matches was
reduced in, IIRC, 1969. So I don't think that you can prove anything
from Kapil's failure to do it. (And IIRC he didn't play many seasons in
county cricket, so didn't have much opportunity.)

As a bowler, yes. As a batsman, there is no comparison.

Hadlee was clearly the better bowler, but it is quite reasonable to believe
that as players they were comparable, or even that Kapil was more valuable.

according to Rhythm and Swing he felt that a reduction was justified
but that the board was going for too big a reduction in an attempt to
pressure him to go.
