Good things about Sky UK getting Test match rights

You won't find people in New Zealand moaning about Channel 4 losing the right to screen Test matches held in England. As a result of Sky (UK) taking over, we in NZ will get live coverage of the Ashes series this year, for the first time AFAIK.

OH my God. That's brilliant news. It does mean I'll have to decide>whether to join the pro- or anti-Flintoff and Clarke bandwagons sooner>than planned, however.
also start pimping for KP to get into eng Test side.

But Sky UK don't take over till next year. This summer is still under the old arrangement, whereby Sky get one Test and Channel 4 get the rest. So if you in NZ are getting live coverage, Sky UK taking over won't be the reason. -- John Hall "George the Third Ought never to have occurred. One can only wonder At so grotesque a blunder." Eh? I was under the impression that C4 has the rights for this year, with Sky only taking over from next year on? (with the exception of one match)

Fair enough. In that case, I don't really care about the reason.

Dunno.
A theory I heard in talkback radio land the other day is that one must support Australia on the grounds that poms are nice polite losers but insufferable when they win anything.

That's an assumption. There might have been a generational change in attitude...

Fair point wrt cricket. I suspect Mr Kiwi Talkback Caller is generally a rugby fan who watches cricket under sufferance.
