 On 20 Apr 2005 11:13:03 -0700, shariq_tariq@yahoo.com tapped the
keyboard and brought forth:
Dean Jones>Greg Chappell>John Dyson>Sandeep Patil>Anshuman Gaekwad>Ajit Wadekar>Kapil Dev>Sunil Gavaskar>Bruce Reid>Geoff Marsh>
Who's your pick? I think it may be Patil

You missed out Tom Moody.

Cheers,

Mike

Dunno where you get these names from. Sunny has repeatedly ruled himself
out from any assignment that needs his full-time involvement. Ajit Wadekar
hasn't been keeping well. Anshuman Gaekwad isn't anywhere on the radar
screen. Kapil's first stint as a coach ensured that he'll never coach
again. He's become a regular on the golf circuit these days.

If you were just on a fishing expedition, you should have included Azhar's
name in the mix, just to make things a bit more interesting.

Cheers, Shishir

I think Sunny has also indicated that he is not available.

Of this list, I like Patil, Reid, Marsh and Jones. I think getting an Aussie
coach would be a good idea given that their system is by far the most
successful in the world. If we go with a foreigner, I prefer Aussie.

Ah, that would explain Parthiv Patel's absence from the list.

I heard a strong whisper through some Sri Lankan sources today that although
Dav Whatmore has just extended his current contract with the Bangles, he
hasn't completely ruled out the Indian job as yet. Time will tell I guess.

We'll just have to make sure he doesn't spend too much time in Calcutta
doing charity. He'll be helping more indians by resurrecting the team :)

What about Srikkanth? he coached the U-19 team to the world cup and although
he might favou Kaif n Yuvraj a little more than he should, I think he might
be a good coach.

You make a very valid point Mike. I must admit I hadn't ever thought about
it that way. I reckon you are spot on.

Similar line of thinking why I wouldn't prefer Sandip Patil as coach
after his successful with Kenya.

Takeiteasy.
