What about Kumble and Sachin bowling outside the leg stump in the Tests?

Even before Indian players and media started complaining about Ashley
Giles tactics. I remember Nilesh Kulkarni bowling the same line in the
chenai test less than a year ago.

there is very easy way but some what risky to counter this line the
reverse sweep. Shewag was able to do that sucessfully against giles
however sachin never reverse sweeps. In fact that was the very reason
Naseer Hussien used this tactic to contain Sachin.

Actually you can't any more - see Shane Warne bowling to Jake Oram in the
Brisbane Test before Christmas.
Also the main purpose of bowler in ODI is to> save runs however it may be.

The other main difference is that Giles was bowling to Tendulkar and it's
not fair to bowl a negative line to him, just as it's not fair for umpires
to give him out.

First I do not believe it is a Negative line , I also believe that it in
tests it is not a good tactic and should be used sparingly just to
frustrate an aggressive batsman. Look what happened in Bangalore after
Afiridi was out . Ganguly continued in the same vein . It allowed
Younis to settle with singles and no real risk losing a wicket and also
eliminated any chance of a Pak batting collapse.

My only problem was Indians complaning about it when it was used against
them. Esp when they did the same against Aus in the chenai test. A
batsman job is to play whatever the bowler bowls at them. Leave
negatives and positives to the umpires
