Please choose from the following (courtesy Andrew Dunford and John Hall):
1. G Hirst (111 & 117*, 6-70 & 5-45, 1 catch), Yorks v Somerset at Bath 1906
2. Ijaz Faqih (100* & 50*, 5-66 & 5-51), MCB v Allied Bank at Lahore 1983/84 Note: Captained winning team and won toss. Incidentally Ijaz's effort in taking five wickets in each innings is all the more meritorius given that Allied Bank lost only 14 wickets to bowlers in the match. In the first innings Allied Bank captain Iqtidar Ali was dismissed hit the ball twice; three batsmen were run out in the second innings whilst Jalaluddin was absent hurt in both innings.
6. WR James (99 & 99*, 13 catches) Matabeleland v Mashonaland CD at Bulawayo 1995/96
Voting closes this Friday. The winner will receive the title of "RSC's Best-Ever First-Class Performance"

Kudos to Andrew and John for bringing these performances to notice. How many did you actually look through before compiling this list ?

I had a skim through Wisden's all-round performances section, filtering by some of the criteria Chan specified, then backed up some of the selections by reading the scorecards at cricketarchive.co.uk. Which in reality means I may have omitted some startling performances which happened post-1997 (which is when my Wisden book of records was published). Finally, I perused the career history of Grant Bradburn, just in case Wisden had overlooked any of his many startling all-round performances.

So it looks like Giffen is going to win hands down. Andrew whom is your> vote for?
Despite Giffen's stupendous achievement, I vote for Hammond. Not only is his ten outfield catches without parallel, but he scored 139 & 143 in a match where only one other member of his team reached 50 (56), plus he opened the bowling in the first innings and dismissed Surrey's top scorer.
