Grassy wicket at Eden Gardens

Would you expect any less in a ground named after heaven...no doubt the
showing of his pacemen and the indifferent showing of Pakistan's has
somthing to do with this. Pakistan may be sending an SOS for Shahid
Nazir or Shabbir Ahmed...

Sami hasn't done anything since the NZL series in '03-'04. Maybe it's
his time now ....

More realistically speaking, I think Kumble's going to win this match
for India w/ or w/o a grassy pitch. I expect Pathan to perform as
well.

Also, the other alternative is to have a spin friendly track, and then there
is no saying what Kaneria might be able to do. Remember, this was a very
flat track, if at all it was supposed to help the seamers (at least that is
what the curator Daljit Singh stated before the test). On such a track,
Kaneria had the Indians in some trouble. I think that also has something to
do with it. I think Kaneria is on India's mind, which he really was not
before the first test started. I think they have been somewhat surprised by
how good he is.

One can sometimes get a good feel for what the dressing room thinks by
listening to the home commentators, and the remarks of Sanjay Manjrekar and
Ravi Shastri certainly hinted that Kaneria had exceeded the Indian's
expectations. They had probably not reckoned him to be a factor before T1.

I thought India will prepare spin-friendly tracks for the next two
tests and include Harbhajan in place of Zaheer. Especially because
Pakistan has 3 left-handers in the top-order. I wonder now, if Nehra
will replace Zaheer, or if India will go in with an unchanged XI.

Is Shahid Nazir still playing top class cricket ?
At this rate, you may even consider Mohammed Akram,
unless he has acquired British citizenship.
