All youngsters Gambhir, Karthick, Dhoni, Rohit Sharma (one game)
failed. Even Yuvraj came good only in one game.
Gambhir was dropped promptly after the 3rd ODI.
I would not rush to conclude on Rohit Sharma's failure in one
game. Yuvraj was definitely a disappointment.
Karthik got way too many opportunities and he failed miserably
each time!
Dhoni, is the captain, and WK too. As a batsman he only failed in
5th and 7th ODI. He was splendid otherwise
Splendid? 58, 33, 50*, 4, 26, 5. Are you saying 33 and 26 are splendid?
Dhoni himself a youngster came good in just 2 out of 6 matches
with two half centuries.
Of the seniors Dravid has been a cosistent failure who should
have been dumped from the team after the first three games.
Ganguly came good in 2 out of 5 matches
Tendulkar did well in 4 out of 7 matches.
Clearly Dravid and Karthik got way more opportunities than they
deserved.
How many chances did Karthik got? After his last 44* he got 5 chances exactly. He scored single digits in 4 of them (one he was not out) and 3 of them he came in at #3. I have no idea why he is persisted at #3 inspite of his failures at that position. He has scored 19/5 times at #3/#4. 310/10 at 5/6/7.
I was surprised when he was in the team ahead of some big shots, but I don't think he was given too many chances.
Takeiteasy.
They should not be in the playing 15. Ganguly for his
patchy performance should be rested(rotated) and Sehwag must have
been brought in as his replacement opener..
Both team selection and team management was terrible!
