XBOX Fight Night 2004

Gio Delgado 21 May 2005 20:05:02
Has anyone heard of or played the game? It's a very intense boxing game that
puts the rest to shame and at the same time is so realistic that it leaves
alot of room for critisism.

There is no holding, but there are headbutts and lowblows. I still haven't
firgured out how to unlock the "beating chest" taunt, but it might be by
beating Lennox Lewis. If anyone knows how it would be cool if I could know.
That is the last thing that I have to unlock.

And finally, if anyone here does have the game it would be fun to "box" with
other RSBers. I created a character that looks just like me "in fighting
weight" and as realistic as possible, though the game does not have long
haired individuals. I just picked the cornrows cause that is the closest to
me.

Let me know.

I'm not much for video games (they still call them that don't they?) but
this one does sound like fun. My son has an X-Box but he doesn't have
it online. Is this an online game or stand alone or both?

Check out the 2005 "sequel", called "Fight Night Round 2". IMO, it's
much improved over the 2004 version, in that there are clinches, and in
addition, you can vary the amount of power that you put into your
punches.

I have the PS2 version, and I never bought the parts that would allow me
to play online, though...

Oh goodness, I will get it this week unless it's more than 50 bucks. Then
again if it's that good I will rent it from the video store and check it
out. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, I like it a lot. It's much more realistic in terms of pacing the
fight, mounting comebacks/recovering from a KO, you can punch moving back,
and block while dodging. I've still yet to land a 1 punch knockdown,
altough I've been dropped by a few of them myself. I like the haymakers a
lot, but parrying is still too essential in the game, which is not like it
is in actual boxing; I wish they'd make it more based on blocks and
punching around/between blocks rather than parrying/comboing

best one punch knockout strategy, is to go to your strong arm side, say a
righty , go right when opponent throws hook or uppercut, then haymacker
uppercut witht hat hand...it is friggin awesome...

though i knock down a lot of opponents with it, i actually got a 10 count
against ALI! go figure

You and I both. I have gotten my guy at 100% in punching power and I still
have not knocked any of them down with one punch when they are not hurt.
But, I still have the game and I am still trying. (Insert Trinidad - Wright
joke here)

I have created many "real" fighters on the game and it's pretty cool. Hamed
actually beat Morales! Heh, I tried to create Rocky Balboa, but the hair
seems too light when I make him no matter what I do.

I will check quick at the stats I have for Hamed, bearing the best likeness,
and post it.

I'm not much into video games either, but Fight Night 2004 is pretty good
for about 2 weeks or so, then you will probably get bored of it. You don't
need to play it online, its a stand alone game.

I did the same thing with Jeff Lacy against Winky Wright. Got to the
10th round, took a step to my right and dropped a haymaker. Winky took
the 10 count.

The game is pretty cool. The game play is quick and responsive.
