Well we seem to have a slew of single fight cards on HBO coming up. First Wladimir Klitschko (who does not even deserve to be on HBO at this point) faces Eliseo Castillo in a fight more reminiscent of an ESPN FNF headliner. Then we have John Ruiz vs James Toney on its own which is bizarre as any John Ruiz fight should as a prerequisite have an undercard that could offset the impending stench of a Ruiz clenchfest. Davarryl Williamson vs Derrick Jefferson is on the card (but off TV) which would be an interesting fight as Derrick Jefferson is almost always entertaining to watch. Then Golota vs Brewster also appears to be going solo. What gives. Is this a new policy of HBO? Anyone know? Thanks.

May be simply endurance. I doubt I could sit through a WK and a Ruiz two fight card.
Actually it makes a lot of sense to me. Fight cards are a lot like CD's. Folks buy them for one feature. Some die hard fans like some of the undercard fights but mostly its the featured fight that folks buy / watch.
So why not play just the featured fight? As to WK being a featured fighter, his relationship to VK pulls him way up in common folks' interest compared to where he'd be if he were just a single guy from the Ukraine who had his day and now is on the fade.
