I'm not going to disagree too much with that statement. Boxing is a business. As a fighter, I see now that you really need to get in, make your $$$, and get out. Stacy Goodsen has this down to a science. Most people might knock him for it, but he takes these midwest jokers, builds up their records with the same stiffs, and then gets them a nice payday over in Europe, or even here in the US. Hey, who can't use an extra $3000 4 times a year?
If you have talent, it is difficult to turn down fights that you know are probably not in your best interest when the $$$ is right. This is where a good manager, and some backers really come into play.
