A story I have heard about Ali is he used to approach famous white male celebrities and start talking to them about old westerns. The subject of Roy Rogers would come up and Ali would feign not knowing who Roy's famous horse was. Then the white celebrity would say, oh, you mean Trigger? Ali would then feign anger and say, did you just call me niggger? Then after about 5 seconds, he would start laughing hard.

I heard Barry Switzer on the radio once time repeat that story including using the 'N' word though he lowered his voice when he said it.
