I have two building forms I used to build two canoes. The canoes turned out great and now I need to get rid of the building forms. The formsare for building Mac Macarthys wee lassie model canoe. The forms are sturdy and well constructed from high quality plywood. They are set up for building using the "no staple" method. I am located in central vermont and could possibly help with delivery. I need the space for my next project and these are to nice to add to the scrap pile. Thanks for your interest. I am interested in the forms. Please pmail me at steve_nack at gmail dot com. | Republicans lead by example Nomen Nescio 21:38:07 |
| | The Republicans have an extremely valid point about this election. America can't afford to have one party domination of the Congress and the Executive branch. If the Democrats run the show they will go hog wild with reckless spending and force their social agenda upon the American people.
We do not have to look very far to see the validity of their point. When the Republicans ran everything, they spent like drunken sailors, went after gaysand there was no restraint.
The Democrats have control of Congress and will tighten their grip this election. There is but one thing we can do:
USE YOUR BRAIN -- VOTE MCCAIN!!!

| Need RADAR advice Steve Lusardi 19:51:10 |
| | I have just purchased a used FURUNO antenna and gearbox. I have not received it yet. It was made in 2005 and has been used on a commercial ship. It is probably safe to say heavily used, but the price was right and it is sold as functioning well. I will, disassemble it, repaint and mechanically inspect and repair as necessary, but my question is about the magnetron. Furuno states the magnetron is rated for 2,000 to 3,000 hours. I have no maintenance history, but is to safe to think that without recent replacement, the magnetron is used up? Should I just replace the magnetron as just a general service replacement? It is an RSB0074-0062 12KW. Thanks in advance, Steve

| Rachel Carson trip update Roger Long 01:25:54 |
| | Thanks for all the interest in the long thread below.
We left Weatley able to hear the wind howl and the surf as we boarded the boat. We were almost immediately in a very snotty Lake Erie heading straight into it. Although we experienced zero G's a few times that boat did great and conditions steadily improved. She is very quiet and smooth. Once the the wind got down to a bit under 20 and we used up some of the long fetch, she felt like a much larger vessel with the engines sounding a long way behind us.
We made it through the Welland Canal in record time with every lock and bridge opening just as we reached it. In view of a rough forecast for Lake Ontario, we decided to use the time saved to rest up. The forecast was wrong and we had a great run down the lake arriving mid day. We spent the afternoon lowering the mast, taking off the tops off the exhaust stacks for bridge clearance, and refueling.
We're now tied up in front of Best Western and got rooms for the night and are about to go out for dinner.
The weather report is for heavy, steady rain and possible snow for the next few days. It isn't going to be much fun standing out in this stuff tending lines as we go through the locks.

While the CQR is still very popular amongst the blue water cruisers, the Delta (Lewmar), Kobra (Plastimo) and Quickset (Kingston) are getting interesting reviews. Delta and Quickset are claiming that their anchor can be self launched.
Plastimo with their Kobra are not yet making that claim?
Is there someone that has used any one of these anchor and can offer comments

a_panic__133374.htm You don't really believe it makes any difference which one of the Illuminati Freemasons controlled by the Illuminati bankers gets elected in the show election for the masses, do you?
Barack is a good boy, or he wouldn't have been asked, and will do exactly what the bankers expect of him, serving them at their whim, just like George Bush and all the other President Freemasons except John Kennedy, of course, which they handily "took care of" after he got out of control.
Money Changers run the government and have since they took control of the money and printing presses in 1913. Obama and McCain and the rest of them are just the hand-picked front men/women for the public show.
Still not convinced? The "employees" just voted to give their banker bosses $700,000,000,000.00 and are about to give them $250,000,000,000.00 more just because there were no riots in the streets from the irate goyum.
As long as Barack doesn't try to pull anything off by himself, they'll let him win another term by running another Republicrat complete idiot against him.
One must admire the planning and presentation for the masses to digest.

| Skippy Sycophants Wilbur Hubbard 15:12:43 |
| | Dear Skippy Sycophants,
While poor, hapless Skippy certainly has a lot to learn about sailing I give him credit for at least trying to learn something about sailing by doing it. My beef with him is not that he's doing it but that he's doing it rather poorly. He seems to lack the basics. He seems to be going about it for all the wrong reasons. He's got too big a boat and it's too overloaded with frivolous crap. Something or other is always breaking down and the repairs occupy most of his time. It seems he has his boat so stuffed full that he lacks room for basics like a real spinnaker, cruising chute and probably storm sails. In other words his priorities are all out of whack.
And then there's Lydia - but that's a whole new story entirely. Suffice it to say she seems to be about as much trouble as his constantly failing systems only she's less predictable and, if she's like today's typical woman, probably ten times more expensive to keep up to operating standards. I certainly would not sleep well if she was on watch. Why, she doesn't even keep to the proper side of a navigational aid.
With these things in mind please consider that it's not my desire to attack Skippy or his chattel. But, I must define THEM in order to define YOU Skippy and Lydia sycophants. In doing so I can more easily prove my point which is as lacking in experience, know-how and competence as Skip et al are they have risen almost to the Lhotse face summit of sailing proficiency compared to you Mariana Trench dwellers who constantly slobber all over them and the most mediocre of their dubious accomplishments.
You wannabes demonstrate your hopelessness by quickly running to the defense of a couple of cruising noobs you seem to think exemplify sailing expertise just because they manage to blunder from port to port in a mostly haphazard and lubberly fashion. It goes to show that you wannabes don't have anything but a lubber's frame of reference to go by or your attitude would be quite different.
Every time Skippy posts one of his tome-like trip logs there are always too many mistakes to count with respect to proper seamanship but you Rubes don't recognize any of them. Perhaps I expect too much from all of you. It's difficult for me, who notices every unseamanlike blunder they make, to come to the realization that I am perhaps the only one here who is aware of them all. I suppose this is due to my many long years of cruising and voyaging experience. I am also an avid reader so I supplement my experience with the wisdom of other notables of sailing fame. I am definitely an expert and I know of which I speak probably to a much greater extent than the lot of you combined.
So, spare me the platitudes and sarcasm when attempting to disparage my wealth of expertise. Try listening to me with understanding for once as you could learn ten times what you know now in less time than it takes for Skippy to run aground again.

United States District Court Judge, Honorable R. Barclay Surrick orders Obama to produce the following: 1. Obama's "vault" version (certified copy of his "original" long version) Birth Certificate; and 2. A certified copy of Obama's Certification of Citizenship; 3. A Certified copy of Obama's Oath of Allegiance
Obama can't produce them because he doesn't have them. He's a fraud. He's a Muslim and part of an Al Queda plot to take over the country, soon to be thwarted.
It appears that Hillary is going to be the new Democrat candidate real soon....

Joining a Beneteau 43 to bring back down the coast to Mandurah. 4 guys - know two of the others but don't know the Brit yet. 21o57'19"S / 114.08.24.64E down to 32o31'24''S / 115o42'54"E. About 840 miles, though we'll be calling in at Carnarvon, Geraldton, Jurien Bay and Fremantle along the way which will add to it a bit. It's a thankless job but someone has to do it! Back second week of October. Stay safe and happy. Hoges in WA
Have a great trip... take pictures! Remember-for every day you're on a boat with other people, the boat gets a foot shorter.
