If the bars stick out beyond the side of the car, then they tend to make a lot of wind noise. Yakima has little 'wings' that clip on over the bar ends - It really cut the noise on the bars for my van (that are up high enough so they can stick out without banging your head on them - fits 4 kayaks and a rocket box). The bars on my new car are longer than the previous ones. That could be an explanation. Thanks to all that responded. I'll post if i find a fix.
