OT:American Death Sentence

The local newspaper here in Beverly Hills expressed it best in a headline:

"Terry Schiavo Sentenced To Death."

Because she had a "husband" who did not want her alive to talk about him or
for whatever reason, she was sentenced to die in a cruel and unusual way
that the Supreme Court would never have countenanced for the most savage
mass killer -- slow starvation and dehydration. Why isn't she excused from
the death penalty for that reason alone?

Because the courts read the public opinion polls and the polls show that
most people don't care for her to stay alive, she is sentenced to die. So
now we have "Family Feud" justice where the only right answer is the one
that most respondents give, and a totally innocent woman has to die because
a poll says so.

I wonder if a poll of Aryan Germans would have found a majority who cared
enough to pull a lever to save the Jews. I suspect a good majority -- voting
in total secrecy, of course -- would have said, "Let them die. They're
inferior and not worth providing food for." So now we are at that level.

But when Terri Schiavo is with her Maker let's be clear what happened: she
was executed by the culture of death judiciary, the same ones who say no
baby has a right to live until he's out of the womb by a few days -- and you
can bet that's going to change so that babies who are less than perfect will
soon be sentenced to death, too. She was executed, despite having committed
no crime whatsoever, by thugs in black robes who would not know a law if it
were on their breakfast plate.

This is what we have come to. The unelected judiciary has simply taken over,
like a gangster governmental branch, from the rest of the government, and it
is a judiciary of death. And this is with a Republican, right to life
president. When a Democrat wins again, as will surely happen, God help us.

Will you shut up about this woman already,,, gees,, let her die in
dignity,,,

now there is a word krause and his puppets (who most remind me of Terri
Schiavo by the way) missed,,, I mean even Terri is more intelligent to speak
to than krause and his merry puppets. At least you get a straight answer,
one without all kinds of lies and stories.

krause,,, you should check into see if Terri is donating her organs,, you
could use her brain,, it would be an upgrade.

 Hello Tuuk,

Let him or anyone else "speak" or copy-n-post whatever he/they want to.
Free speech is a right enjoyed and exercised by many. Yes, even those who
cry about, criticize or even curse the country they live in still have this
consitutional right.

You demean the suffering of a helpless woman in the her last hours of life.
Please do not use her and what she stands for in your personal attacks on
other NG posters. I stand up for her, her family (who wants her to live)
and everyone else who feels the same. If it were about you, I would,
likewise, stand up for you, too. But in this thread, "Shame on you."

Sincerely,
Franko

 Franko,
Do you stand up to Terri's right to die with dignity, as confirmed by two
judges. I am amazed at how hard Terri's husband has fought to honor his
wife's wish to die with dignity.

If I am ever in her situation, I hope my wishes are honored. Even though I
have a Living Will, if you family is willing to fight to ignore you wishes
it can get nasty.

 Hello N S Sherlock,

I do not believe it was ever established that Terri stated or even mentioned
to her husband that she wanted to die under the circumstance she is
currently in. The husband inferred from his relationship with her what he
said to the courts which weighed more than her family's inference.

In answer to your question, no, because it is immoral in my beliefs. It may
be legal but that's it.

There are folks who feel just as strongly for her right to die based on
their own beliefs -- that is what makes this issue so heartwrenching without
Advanced Directives. Her husband's love versus her mother's love. There
will be a final reckoning and sometimes I wonder if judges, lawyers and
family will be granted immunity...

 Franko,

It was decided by two judges that 5 people heard her say she would not want
to keep alive by artificial means. One who testified she heard this wish
being expressed was Terri's mother.

I've seen so many different sets of 'facts' concerning this case that it
would probably yake a lifetime to sort out.

I do know that things would ahve been simpler had her husband acted like
one, and appeared to be acting in his own self interest.

 P. Fritz,
If you read the brief by the judge, who reviewed all of the "facts", you
would have seen that the judge felt both the husband and the parents were
extremely biased and BOTH of them seemed to be acting in their own self
interest (i.e. concern about who would receive the financial settlement).

The husband and parents were very close until he refused to share his
settlement with the parents.

One of the articles I read detailed how her parents were outlawyered by her
husband, partly due to the settlement award that he received, which in turn
tainted what 'facts' were brought to trial. All the endless appeals courts
could do were rule on the validity of that verdict, not retry the
case......that was the intent of the congressional law passed......to allow
the federal court to essentially retry the case.........there has been so
much misinformation out there, from doctors to lawyers, it is hard to
determine was is and isn't true.

It is all moot now, they just annouced she has died.
