1. 9 ball must be called EXCEPT on the break. No need to eradicate the power break, let's just get winning most of the games to be by skill, and not cheesing in the 9.
2. The break is an automatic push if an OB doesn't fall. IOW, the incoming player doesn't get put into a position where they must make a shot to make/prevent a shot. This forces the breaker to reap what they sowed.
3. Can call a Push or a Safety at any time. a. A Safety requires the next shot go to your opponent. Best for defensive situations, 3-fouling your opponent, etc.
b. A Push allows opponent to keep or return the next shot. This is where strategy comes in to play.
4. Not potting a ball is BIH for the opponent if push or safety not called.
5. Calling a Push/Safety and potting a ball is legal. IOW, I want to pot the 4 but the 5 is insanely tied up and I can't break it loose in making the 4. I can call safety and make my opponent shoot next, or push and make them decide.
And if you really want to spice it up.......
....still play for the 9 ball, just rack all 15 and play in order so there are some defensive soldiers always on the table.
....make it so if a player opts to combo in any of the 10-15 without using the 9, and then they make the 9, they get an extra game on the wire.
