Pardon my ignorance, but can anyone please explain WTF a "Sneaky Pete" cue stick is? I even called the guy at Meucci (he says their M-1 is a "Sneaky Pete") and he couldn't even give me a good reason why they call it that, or what it means. Does the term have a pejorative connotation? I suspect it's just a high-quality cue designed to look like a house cue. Is that it?

Most will say it is a jointed cue that looks like a house cue. Some will say it is a cue made from a house cue. (at least the butt end of it)
You're right, it's a decent cue, (straight, nice taper, tip, smooth, etc.,) that looks like a house cue. Also it is usually the most affordable model from cuemakers. I have the Meucci M-1 and like it a lot. I would guess the term "Sneaky Pete" probably means that a hustler could be using it and some lame may think he is using a house cue, thus being "sneaky", but I doubt that is the case in most situations.

A true "sneaky pete" is a two piece cue without a collar where the joint is disguised so that it looks like a house cue. It's for players who want their opponent to think they are using a house cue. Sneaky petes are also known as "hustler" cues.
