| | In article <H_6dnVrbkcjfdeXVnZ2dnUVZ_jCdnZ2d@comcast.com>, jbstein2 @comcast.net says...
IPT has a free 14.1 match with John Schmidt vs. Mike Segal. This is a good match with good commentary by Grady Matthews. All you 14.1ers will surely enjoy it and Segal has been practicing since his IPT 8 ball fiasco. He's playing in top form again and 14.1 has always been his forte' Goto: and then to page 6 and the Segal vs Schmidt match on that page. You have to register though, which sucks, but it's free and the worse that happens is the IPT notifies you when they have live pool matches as well as when a freebie comes along. Well worth the time for Lou and Dan and anyone interested enough in pool to watch a good 14.1 match with Grady talking at you. Jack, thanks for the link. The IPT is running 14.1 matches now?? What happened? I thought the organization was kind of defunct? I'm obviously out of the loop.
I have an accustats tape of Segal running 150 and out on Mike Zuglan. Poor Zuglan is parked in the chair drinking water the entire match. As a matter of fact here it is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5bvRhETn_s
You know, I like youtube as much as the next guy but this is just a pure ripoff of Accustats. I mean, accustats spends the money to film this, to hire commentators like Grady Mathews and Bill Incardona, to produce the tape or dvd, to advertise and distribute the dvds, etc. Youtube will hurt their business if not drive them under and then we all lose.

| ref Zuglan/Segal Bill O 16:08:40 |
| | I was talking to a friend at the pool room who saw that match and he said that, although a number of players had run a 150 and out, that was the first time someone did it from the opening break, and they made an announcement to that effect. believe it was at the Rossevelt Hotel in NYC. Plus, in Zuglans next match he ran 148 from the break. Needing two balls Zuglan wound up like this
http://CueTable.com/P/?@4FWjK4IWiC4JYdb4KWao4MWhN3NFUl4PVQc@
tommy didn't remember exactly how Zuglan got in trouble but instead of going up and down to get on the 6 he tried to hold up the cue ball and the hitting so soft the 14 hung in the pocket. So the story goes.

| RSB Posts Contianing Shot Layouts Achived in CueTable Library Cuetable 23:26:11 |
| | Hi folks:
I have archived most RSB posts containing shot layouts here (from 2000 to 06.2008): http://library.cuetable.com/forumdisplay.php?f=70
I think this is useful for everyone. In the old days, people drew diagrams on napkins and the napkins got thrown away. Since the layouts today are in digital format, there can be a lot of potentials. The layout archive is an initial start. Please feel free to add anything or let me know if I am missing any good posts
Also, grab a seat in the video screen room, we have selected 600+ billiard related online videos from the net http://video.cuetable.com
Ideally, we'd like to have diagrams for the key shot of every video, and talk about it all together. Kind of like the "9 Ball Situation - What Would You Do Here" series as show in Table Talk http://library.cuetable.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39
For player of beginner to intermediate levels, we have formed collaboration with 18 professional instructors to give free advice: http://poolcoach.cuetable.com
There are still a lot of meaningful work to be done and I need you guys help. Please support CueTable project!
Cheers Wei

| Sneak Attack -- Dan White Lfigueroa 15:15:20 |
| | So, somewhat unexpectedly yesterday, I got done early and had a chance to go to Comet Billiards for a while. Even got some cheap 1pocket action.
So then I'm chatting with the owner, Bill Halley, and I mention that while here, I was hoping to meet up with a friend from the internet and play some pool for a while. He asks who and I say "Dan White." And he says, "Oh, I know Dan. He was in here practicing last night. Said he had someone from out of town coming in and I wondered if it was you." I laughed and said, "Ah. He's trying to sneak up on me! Which is basically what I'm trying to do to him " So then Bill goes on, "Oh yeah. He had a video camera and coach and everything." And we both had a good laugh.
So, Dan, I know you're ready and waiting in the weeds. Whassup?
By the way: Thursday no longer looking good. If I can play that day, it'd only be for a couple of hours really early. Udderwise, today or tomorrow still looks good.

| The next Mosconi Mark0 05:10:49 |
| | Ok, probably not. But....
My son has had a cue in his hand since he was less than a year old (but you couldn't get near him without getting whacked!) and is now 5. He plays with a full length cue up over his shoulder one handed with the shaft resting on the rail and mostly sights down the length of the cue to line up shots. Until this week his idea of play was smacking the balls into the holes (click--POP) and he's gotten pretty good at that. Occasionally I'll bug him to shoot the balls in using the white ball like Daddy does and we'll set up some ducks for him to pot but mostly I let him play.
Day before yesterday I suggested we play some pool by the "real" rules but since he was little his spot would be that he could pick up whitey and put it anywhere to shoot after each shot (with a generous amount of do-overs when he wanted to try a shot again) with only some occasional suggestions about where he might place whitey to make the shots easier. I have a seven ball rack and that's what he wanted to play. Well, I got to see things start to "click" for him and he started making some of the damnedest shots you can imagine. Shots like this almost straight shot: http://CueTable.com/P/?@3ERiu2PCqq2kCqq3kQsg3kaUe3kaUe@ and not just once. He made several in a row!
So yesterday I was telling his Mom about it and I set up the shot saying he made a shot like this (thinking he'd knock it into the rail) and he stepped up and fired it in like it was nothing! So I set up another and he knocked it and even a couple more in before I saw his PSR degrading and he started missing. So then I showed him 3 rail shots and how to aim at the diamond (and how it was important not to miss the middle of whitey or the cue will come up short, and to hit it with (his) break speed (remember, he's shooting out of the pocket with his stick on his shoulder). I set 2 balls in the opposite jaw to give him a bigger target and he nailed about 6 or 7 out of 10 (with a big ole grin on his face). So I showed him the spot on the wall 3-railer (using a piece of tape to mark the spot) and set up several more of those along the long rail. I'd guess he dropped to about 50% on those (he wasn't getting running english on them) before he got bored and wanted to shoot in some ducks -- but he was still using whitey to make the balls and still picking it up after most of the shots. Then he wanted me to set up some trick shots. So I set up this: http://CueTable.com/P/?@1BADS2EBqG3PAmk1VADS1Vbjg2YBqG2YYvc2YYvc3kAmk2kBAk2kBAk@ and some other easy caroms and he just ate those up too.
Anyway, he's no phenom but I love seeing the lightbulb go on. And I love seeing him getting all the cause and effects memories programmed in early. He's seems to have the idea now of where to hit the balls ('hit them so they are pointing at the pocket when they touch' [I'll wait to explain throw when he's consistently accurate]) and he's beginning to see that sometimes you have to be really precise to hit it *there*. It's wayyyy cool and I just had to share. Besides we can't have Lou do *all* the posting
Just think when he's big enough to shoot 2 handed how easy this will all seem to him!!!
I'll get some video on YouTube one of these days too.

| Discovery's? Lfigueroa 15:39:23 |
| | Pinkies aside has anyone amongst the group had any "Ah Ha" moments lately?
I have, after playing Dan in NJ. I came home to my real cue and wondered about how I played there and suddenly discovered that a small motion in my set (that sometimes I do and sometimes I don't)gave me a gigantically more powerful stroke, when I did it. I mean, it's like night and day.
And, after all the muddling around, I have to ask myself, "Is there really anything more important that being able to hit a pool ball really hard with with a lot of accuracy?
