Figured you'd be the only one to respond -- or at least, the first :-).
Assuming you have NC State, Texas, Iowa, and Iowa State in, this is>about how I see it. (Your mention of SMS previously makes me think they>should be on this list.)

Yes, I do have all of those teams in.

I like UNI and Miami OH for what the committee will pick, but your>top four are so close as to be hard to distinguish. Despite the claim>that conferences don't get bids, I think politically they won't take>4 MVC teams and one MAC team.

I was thinking along the same lines, both in terms of which teams
would get in (although it's very close), and in terms of the
conference split.

To me, UAB and DePaul would be the last two in of those six teams.

I can't find any case for UAB, with their 0-6 against the RPI top 50.
I think Buffalo or Miami/OH, the logical last two out, got screwed.

But other than that, I thought the committee did a fantastic job.

I didn't even have Notre Dame that close -- their rankings (e.g.,> Sagarin, Pomeroy, RPI) were really out of range for being considered> (mid-50's to mid-70's). As for UAB, as I've already argued, and as> you concur, I just don't see any kind of case for them at all.

I blame Hostmaster for my liking Notre Dame this year. After last year,
when we argued about Arizona and Georgia, he got me to start thinking
more about straight wins vs. RPI top 25 and top 50 and less about
placing the teams vs. where they were in power ratings. Last year, I
didn't like Georgia or Notre Dame and if I kept my own standards from
year-to-year, I think I would have dropped out ND this year, too. I was
close to taking Northern Iowa and had them ahead of Wichita State, but
thought the committee would not like their opening round loss to SMS and
the fact that their biggest wins were at home.
