 - Maybe cutting down the nets wasn't such a good idea. OTOH, maybe this
is an example of why they they were right to cut them down then, since
the defense given was that perhaps that would be their only chance.

- Let's go Tech!

- The more I think about it, the idea that Illinois is better off having
lost a game is pure rationalization. The only teams I can think of
since the mid 60's to go undefeated during the regular season were a
handful of UCLA teams, IU in '76, and UNLV in '91. Of those teams, I
think only UNLV failed to win a title, and they did go to the FF. Going
further back, there was UNC in '57, also winning the whole thing. Not
that Illinois is doomed now. They're pretty impressive. But I don't
think losing helped their chances any.

- The Heels are *not* out of it. They've got to focus, work hard, and
be lucky.

I was thinking the latter. :(

Indeed!

I agree completely.

No, they aren't out of it. Focus is the key, but I'm just surprised how
short of it they were in the ACC tourney and that doesn't bode well for
next week. They gotta find a lot of it, and find it quick. I'm not
convinced they can.

NC State in 1973, but they were on probation
and missed the postseason. Indiana State and Alcorn
State, both in 1979. Indiana State famously lost in the
NCAA finals, while Alcorn State wasn't eligible for the
NCAA tournament and instead lost in the first round of
the NIT (they player a *really* weak schedule).

Thanks for filling out the list. I thought about Indiana State, but I
wasn't sure if they were undefeated until the end.

Still, I think my point stands. I wouldn't expect every team that comes
into the final game undefeated to win it, especially if they have to
face Magic and a couple of other future NBA players.
