Boy that guy was really ticking me off. If we had lost I would've posted something like "Who the Fu** is Melchionni!!!"
His 3-point raining, combined with what seemed like 85,344,000,332,000 blocked or fouls that weren't called, were really getting to me.
But what a rally at the end.
Memo to Wake: you are NOT going to be the regular-season ACC champion. Memo to Duke: same thing.
This game was good in one way--besides that we won, it reminded me why Duke had for a long time been my #1 dislike, a spot recently occupied by wanna-be Wake Forest. But the intensity I felt in this game was huge, I had forgotten who Wake Forest even was for awhile. Heck, I even broke a remote control when Melchionni made his last 3-pointer. I was SICK of that.

I don't think anyone from Duke even had it before Marvin got it. You must admit, that was perhaps the best place for the FT to miss -- hard off the front rim, so it bounced right away from the Duke players who are under the basket.

UNC was very fortunate when he remembered who he is and jacked up that corner 3 with 25 seconds left on the shot clock. Second-worst shot choice of the game (behind Felton's heave from the right of the lane).

The refs were swallowing the whistle in both directions big time. I was shocked when they called the foul on Raymond's drive (not that it WASN'T a foul, just that they seemed to let similar contact go for most of the game).

Marvin's board was that much sweeter coming *right after* the CBS cameras caught K yelling AND gesturing "Box Out!".

Marvin's play was great, in large part because it seemed like everything he attempted up to that point was swatted away, and frankly many of those were doing double-duty as body-slams and non-called fouls. He made 'em pay for it in the end. Way to go "Messy Marvin." (I don't know why I like calling him that, his play is anything but messy.)
And forget Reddick as ACC player of the year, though he certainly should be 1st team. For Sean May to stand out that much on a team that loaded, it's a no-brainer.

Yeah, and it came far enough for the shooter (Felton) to get up in the air and get a hand on it. I think it was coming down to Duke guys, but Felton got to it first.
If you're gonna miss, that was a good way to do it and then a *good* play to get a hand on it.
FWIW, I was blocked out of the timeout call and couldn't see who had the ball and how they had it. It did appear it was Roy who the official heard for the TO call first, though.

Boxing out had nothing to do with it. If Duke had let UNC get position, it would have turned out better for them.

Ewing lost the - I believe he was bothered by Felton but Raymond didn't poke it away - and it rolled right to the jump circle. Noel cradled it (Dookies will disagree with my choice of words) on the floor, called timeout, then there was a scramble on the floor and Noel maintained possession and was still calling T.O. I was in a loud bar so I'm not sure exactly *when* the timeout was granted - immediately, or following the mini-scrum.
I thought the officials did a good job. Both teams came back from big deficits. I thought Duke had it wrapped with a 6 point lead and 4 minutes to go. It is amazing how even though Duke beat Carolina 15 out of the last 18 - this could still be the best rivalry in college sports. It used to be FSU/UF in football - but that has lost a little luster since Spurrier left. To think that Duke and Carolina could meet two more times this year - that's great. Be proud of your victory Carolina - the kids on the teams will enjoy it forever. Harry

Very seldom do you see a full-fledged court rush after beating a team ranked LOWER than you. I'd prefer to think it was more a case of the crowd helping Jawad, Marvin and Jackie bury the 8-20 demons once and for all with a MRSC*.

Looked like Noel poked it away from behind, actually.

I saw everything *except* I couldn't see the ball itself once players went to the court. That's why I can't contest the anti-UNC folks who seem to think they shouldn't have been granted the TO.
