Many will chastize this man for his post--and granted, it's typically
considered bad form to not admit you lost & blame it on officating--but the
OP (original poster) is absolutely right.

Duke has always been one which many have thought to be a team which benefits
from biased officating in their favor, but it has become clear--that is
bologney. Wake Forest owns that dishonor easily, it's not even close.

Even as far back as the 1995 UNC vs WFU in the ACC tourney, Wake was getting
free throw after free throw with them going about 3/4ths of the second half
before they were called for anything. For crying out loud, this was against
a Dean-smith coach Tar Heel team. The Demon Deacons have owned the referees
for years.

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/recap?gid=200503020628

Just scroll half-way down, where coach Paul Hewitt felt understandably upset
and screamed "Nice job, guys!" at them. Call it sore losing if you will, but
then, it's hard to win when it's 8 on 5, and these days that is exactly what
you face when you play against Wake Forest.

Clearly, they are still a wanna-be, else they could win some games without
having 8 players on the floor for them at all times when the team can only
have 5.

Coach Hewitt is right--nice job guys.

Please. Tech's entire strategy was to hack Chris Paul up and down the
court.

Combine that with the fact that Eric Williams owned the Jackets in the
paint and either scored or was fouled every time he touched the ball,
and the foul discrepancy was to be expected.

Glad to see our resident ABW whiner Larry Harrison chimes in.

Need a diaper, Larry?

Sure, because no one ever *really* cheats.

Don't be so fucking naive.

Yea, so every ticky-tack bit of contact that Tech made was a foul but
everytime Wake did it we just looked the other way? Give me a break.

I'm more than willing to admit that Williams was a dominant force in this
game. But almost every time one our players drove to the hoop and drew
contact there was no whistle. Almost every time a Wake player did there was
one. It wasn't a difference in the defense, that was clearly the
officiating.

Samuri referee strikes again!

Tech's digging a hole. You are one upset from the Not Invited.
The good news is that your last game vs. Clemson. The bad
news is that Clemson is somehow playing decent the past three
games, with a win at MD.

I would be afraid. Very afraid. Hold that tiger.

Very true. I am extremely worried about this Clemson game. They seem to
have really gained confidence these past 5 games or so.

This is the way it goes these days when you play against Wake Forest. The
officials really are biased in Wake's favor and seem to call everything
their way. I guess the officials feel sorry for "wanna-be Wake" because
they're not up to Duke/Carolina standards but the officials want them to be
so they help them anyway they can. Outcome-based education making its way
into ACC basketball, what a sad day.

Like I said, the way it goes these days--you play against Wake Forest, and
that is a guaranteed outcome. As guaranteed as heat in the desert in July
around noon-time. It ALWAYS happens.

But why?

Larry wanted to jump on the bandwagon early right at the beginning of
Wake's emergence as a national power.

I imagine he will be watching the Wake NCAA games with his Deacon doll
and pins all ready to go.

He really had to get on some bandwagon, once he jumped off the UNC
bandwagon in the wake (ha!) of the loss to Santa Clara. Probably
best for all that he picked an empty bandwagon.
