September 30, 2007 - 10:15 am New York Post - The New York Knicks have rather high goals set in place for the upcoming season. "Our goal isn't to make the playoffs anymore," center Eddy Curry said. "Because I think that should be a given with the talent we have and the coaching we have. I would love to come out of the East." Those are Curry's first remarks of the offseason during which he was robbed at gunpoint in his suburban Chicago home in July, bolted the Windy City and laid low in Westchester. Curry made the bold statement in a Knicks promotional video, dubbed "The Knick Experience." "Our team, on paper, is a championship team," Stephon Marbury added recently. "How far can we go? It's going to be decided on us." he may be one of the stupidest humans in history

DOUG CAMILLI, The Gazette Published: 10 hours ago It's been three weeks since Donald Trump has been in the headlines, and so he was developing this nagging headache, right behind the temples ... I imagine that's the best explanation for Trump's sudden denunciation of Dan Rather as "a loser" for suing his old bosses at CBS. Trump must have known that this would send his old sparring partner Mark Cuban, the loudmouth Internet zillionaire who owns basketball's Dallas Mavericks, into a publicity frenzy of his own, since Rather now works for a Cuban venture called HDNet. Sure enough, Cuban went on Access Hollywood, calling Trump "a first- class idiot! ... Nothing ... that comes out of his mouth has any validity or any value," and mocking Don's various ventures. Ding ding! Round 2 - Trump to the N.Y. Post: "Mark is a total loser. ... He lives in a Trump building and yet he doesn't like Trump. People in the building find him a total jerk. He will always be third- class." Cuban's response won't, I'm sure, be long in coming. depends on how Cuban dances with the stars... ---

Oregon hammers Michigan in "The Big House". Michigan that bad, or Oregon that good? I guess we'll have to wait on that one. South Florida dumps Auburn @ Auburn. That SEC... such a powerhouse from top to bottom. Washington rips Boise State... yeah, well, even after everything they've done, no one cares about Boise State outside of Boise... unless they are playing Oklahoma. Then EVERYONE'S on the bandwaggon. LSU lays the wood to Virginia Tech. I could make a tasteless joke about being ambushed and shot, but I'll refrain. South Carolina ended JAW-GEEAWWW's national title hopes. AGAIN. You know, when you spend all night before the game fucking your sister, you tend to be tired. Maybe they should ask West Virginia how they get around that problem. Red Bull, maybe? Poor Miami. Wait... no. Hey, look, A&M is making everyone think they might be good again. Isn't that a yearly ritual, right before they get snotfucked by Texas? EVERY FUCKING YEAR? See you week 3! -- C The Shocker Uh.... yeah. 2 questions Chris....
1) why post this to the basketball group?
2) no mention by you about Greg "Sam Bowie" Oden ?????

We are all caught up in the rapture of Lebron euphoria but the Michael Jordan comparisons are misguided. Lebron is not a Michael Jordan descendant in terms of aesthetics or style. Lebron's greatness is undeniable but his flair for the spectacular is not part of the Dr J - I have no idea why Kobe is in this discussion.
Dr. J and Jordan are the very most elite of their time.LeBron is certainly capable. Kobe is a step up from Vince Carter or AI but isn't in the same league as Jordan or Erving. No MVP's, no Shaqless rings, and now easy pickings in the playoffs on "his team."
Air Jordan - Kobe Bryant lineage. In order to join that exclusive club a superstar has to display more than the technical virtuosity of a complete player, but must be blessed with a lean, acrobatic body combined with the flexible, tensile strength of a steel cable. A true basketball messiah is sublimely beautiful in motion. He elevates with effortless grace, hovers above the defense, glides, twirls and fluidly creates impossible gravity defying shots while suspended in mid air. That is not Lebron's style because his muscular body type is better suited to a speed & power game. Basketball fans will have to wait a few more years for the next Jordan or Kobe. In the meantime, let's all sit back and enjoy Lebron for what he is...the Magic Johnson of our time.

personally, I thought the media reaction to LeBron James' pass to Marshall was an over reaction. Michael Jordan dished to Paxson and Kerr, and he didn't take any heat for it. Of course, the difference was that Marshall missed the shot. Had Marshall made it, James would have been praised for the pass. Bottom line, I think it was a good pass and the right decision. No, the difference was the LeBRon had a layup.
