Astros denied Home field advantage ?

Tony Cummins 2 November 2005 00:59:46
I thought home field advantage, like ground rules, were what made ballparks
individual ? Why is there a problem with having the roof closed tonight ?
Is Selig trying to appease the White Sox for their many years in the
wilderness ?

i think you're being a little rough on "take me out to the ballgame."

Maybe that explains the bad calls. Who can permanently ban them from
baseball if the commish is in on things?

Couldn't they have gotten shots of Jenks at Field level ? :-)

umm, isn't the one they sing at the beginning of the game far more
"jingoistic" than "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" ???

Why not just hang some cameras in the roof? Better shots anyway.

Heh heh.

A question, though: Would we still be subjected to "God Bless America" if
jingoistic Fox didn't have rights to the Series? I know it's still done all
the time at Yankee Stadium and in at least one minor league ballpark (New
Britain, Eastern League), but I don't hear it at Fenway Park or Shea Stadium
or any of the other minor league parks I've been to in the past couple of
years. Is "God Bless America" at the Series Fox's idea or MLB's?

'God Bless America' is "jingoistic"?

Are you a fucking moron, or simply ignorant of the definition of that
word, which you capitalized for some reason?

God Bless America is about as jingoistic as it gets.

There's nothing "extreme" about the patriotism in GBA.

No, it's just a terrible song.

But it did have one benefit -- it prompted an angered Woody Guthrie to write
"This Land Is Your Land" as a response.
