There's no chemistry there - they stay isolated for the most part. Yes, A-Rod's all chummy with Jeter, but Jeter's chummy with the entire team. Matsui might face a barrier in not speaking English, but he generally carries himself with little emotion - a Steinbrenner Yankee, but not a teammate. Both of those players have enjoyed star status on their past teams, and perhaps they developed a mindset of being separate from the rest.

I agree. Who cares? Did the Yankees lose the series because of chemistry, or the inability to get a clutch hit, in addition to a terrible start by Randy Johnson and another crumby one by Mike Mussina?

They apparently lost because A-Rod is only chummy with Jeter, and presumably Matsui isn't chummy with anyone. No idea how chummy the rest of their players were who had shitty performances, but clearly they need more chummy and less shitty. -- "The owners are the alcoholic who blames the liquor store for being located on the corner." - John Delcos, (Westchester, NY) Journal News

Good gawd, man, can you not read?!?!?!?
It's pretty obvious that ARod hit poorly because he never went bowling with Matsui. And that Johnson and Mussina had poor starts because they never had Sheffield and Bernie over to their houses for tea.
