dugout phones.

anyone know which team/stadium was first to implement the dugout-to-bullpen
phones? when was this? and how long did it take for them to become
ubiquitous (and which team/stadium was the last holdout of hand signals and
sending a runner out to the pen?)

I want to say I heard that Dodger Stadium was when it first opened in the
early '60s, but not sure...

I don't know about dugout phones, but the only water fountains
in the park were in the dugouts until the health department forced
their addition. Apparently, Walter O'Malley planned to boost the
sale of liquid refreshments.

I have seen in several dugouts, no just one phone, but as many as four.
What could they possibly need that many for. One for the bullpen and even
if they need one for something else, haven't they heard of extentions?

Last time I toured a major league park, I recall that one went to the
press box and another to the GM
