I agree with Rolen, and I'd keep K-rod over Dotel as a closer. Probably go
with Clemens after that.....can't believe you only get to keep 3 players.
Might as well throw them all back in the mix. We keep up to 13 of 23, even
though most of us don't keep the full 13 available. Good luck

Yeah, we keep 10, 3 is kind of low, to each their own. I can't believe you
wouldn't keep Bonds, though. 1.200 or so OPS is unreachable by anyone else,
bats .340 or so, 40 HRs, 100 R, 100 RBI's. Clemens? I'd keep Prior over
him. Rolen is a good choice.

Bonds, Prior, and Rolen are 1st rounders in all leagues above 10 teams, go
that way.

Ok, I'll give you Prior, but I really think Barry's numbers are going to
suffer this year......sorry to say that knowing that you're a Giants fan.
And not just because of the juice issue, but because of the rest of his
body.

Not likely just yet, and that's an unbiased opinion. I play with my head in
fantasy baseball, not with my heart. I think it's too early to give up on
Bonds' run of greatness. His numbers in OPS, AVE, HR, RBI, and R (5 of this
man's 6 categories in his league) are too much to ignore.

BTW, the only Giants I have on my team are minor leaguers, Aardsma and
Valdez. Except for Bonds, and maybe Feliz if he plays more often, they
don't interest me fantasy baseball wise.

I think I get an extra day to make my decision. A guy in my league
offered me a trade of Teixeira for Rolen, straight up. Rolen had a
career year last year and is 30 - he could fall back to his "normal"
career numbers this year, but of course he's at a slightly scarcer
position. Should I bite?

1B is too deep, I'd stand pat with Rolen.

OK, now the guy is countering with Schmidt+Teixeira for Rolen. This
would mean I would have to dump either Prior or Bonds, since we can
only keep 3. IMO, Schmidt would be a slight upgrade over Prior.
Does that make the trade any more worth it?

Not if you have to drop Prior or Bonds. I'd take Prior and Rolen over
Teixeira and Schmidt anyday. Keeper trades are different, because in 2 for
1's, you have to consider the dropped player also, so, in this case, the 1st
deal was closer.

I appreciate your advice, but both ESPN and Sporting News believe that
Schmidt is a better choice than Prior even for keeper leagues. I
wonder if Prior was on the juice anyway, since he dropped off
considerably after returning from injury last year.

To each their own. I'm a Giant fan, and think Prior is the better choice
long term, although I wouldn't through Schmidt back to the heap also.
Schmidt overpowers guys, which players can adjust to. Prior has a wicked,
where did it come from, curve ball in addition to his fastball that is just
nasty. Statwise, Priors K/IP ratio is higher, and ERA and WHIP is lower.
You may lose some in wins with Prior, depending on how much each starts this
year. Although Schmidt has been healthier lately, he's had his share of
injuries also. Prior is only 24, and on his way UP. Schmidt is 32, on his
way DOWN.

But, you can believe ESPN and Sporting News if you like.....

k-rod.

10 team mixed head-to-head league. Keep 3 after each season. Stat> categories are:>
AVG, OPS, HR, RBI, R, SB> W, L, SV, K, WHIP, ERA>

I wouldn't put Bonds back, he'll be back in May. Too good of OPS to give
up. Run with him while he's still playing.
