Wichita State (23-9) drops two of three to Evansville. Their two losses were in extra innings. Looks like Wichita might be lucky to finish 3rd in the MVC this year.
Game 1: Mike Pelfrey vs Evansville Ace Rogers. Game goes to the 9th with WSU up 1-0. Gene Stephenson send out Pelfrey even though he was at a pitch count of 110. Evansville then beats him around for 3 runs to take a 3-1 lead before Stephenson pulls Pelfrey. WSU then scores 2 to send it to extra innings. WSU has bases loaded in the 10th with 1 out and Evansville gets a ground ball DP to end the threat. Evansville then score 2 in the 11th to win 5-3.
Game 3: WSU jumps out to 8-3 lead but the pitching just sucked. Evansville takes 10-8 lead in the 9th and WSU ties it up with 2 runs. Unfortnately, they should have won it, but WSU's Phil Napolitan who singled home a run is more impressed with himself and isn't hustling and is thrown out at second.
