Giants Feel Ready to Romp Out of West To First Title

The confidence is brimming in Scottsdale these days. Young arms are ready to blossom for Matheney, the cannon is in the bullpen, and 1 thru 8 is as solid and seasoned as any in the game. Like the '02 Angels and the '04 Sox,the '05 Giants will break down that door for sure. Don't Worry Cisco!

-Yankee fan with nothing to look forward too
With the embarrassment of riches that the Yankees have, you have nothing to look forward to?

It's fairly simple:I derive pleasure from following a ball club whose management in interested in developing young, homegrown talent to excel on the field for them. The Yankees under this domineering owner/GM seem no longer interested in farm system prospects as anything other than trade material to acquire much older veterans. Until this policy changes(at his death most likely), I'm not looking forward to a Yankee team full of rapidly aging ex-all stars. OTOH,I view organizations like the Giants' and Mariners' as far wealthier because they're always looking to the future at home.
I thought they were an old team a couple of years ago. Has there ever > been an older team, other than during the WWII years?
I read something in the off-season that said that the Giants have the fifth-highest projected starting lineup age. The four higher are, erm, last year's LCS teams.

Interesting. False though, and not even close to being true. Those 4 teams had an average starting lineup age of about 32. Unless Feliz makes the starting lineup, the youngest will be 31 for the Giants (using baseball-reference.com ages) with most of the lineup on the wrong side of 35.
